New DA director commends Governor Oaminal's dedication to agricultural development in MisOcc
OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental--The newly installed Regional Executive Director, Jose Apollo Y. Pacamalan, commended Governor Henry Oaminal’s dedication and commitment to agricultural development in the province of Misamis Occidental during his courtesy visit, along with Division Chiefs and staff from the Department of Agriculture on June 3, 2024, at his office in the Provincial Capitol.
Director Pacamalan shared that he had heard the governor was strict and
difficult to approach, but his experience was quite the opposite. He found
Governor Oaminal approachable, friendly, and very open to discussions related
to agriculture.
“I am very happy with his warm welcome and can see how interested and
progressive the province is regarding the development of farmers' conditions.
This is a great initiative, allowing the Regional Office to better assist and
support agricultural efforts, as the governor’s commitment to helping farmers
in Misamis Occidental is evident and genuine,” he expressed.
"The people of Misamis Occidental are fortunate to have such a
dedicated governor. His strictness is apparent in his commitment to promises
made to farmers, which aligns with our approach at the regional office. We are
strict in ensuring that all promised inputs and support are delivered to
farmers on time."
Director Pacamalan hopes to strengthen the collaboration between the
provincial government of MisOcc and the Department of Agriculture, especially
in enhancing the conditions of the farmers. "We agreed on the importance
of timely services for farmers, ensuring that government aid arrives when
needed. Farmers rely on timely support for planting, and they cannot afford to
wait for delayed government assistance. We discussed and agreed that support
for farmers must never be late," he noted.
Governor Oaminal is proactive in allocating resources for agricultural
development, even committing to the PRDP counterpart when local governments
cannot manage it alone. This indicates that the governor is always ready to
allocate funds for agriculture.
"Governor Oaminal is committed to contributing his share to the
development of farmers. He insists that agricultural programs must be delivered
on time and with the highest quality of service," Director Pacamalan
concluded.
Governor Oaminal welcomed the new director, appreciating his visit and
expressing support for the agency's initiatives aimed at improving the lives of
farmers and constituents in MisOcc Province. The governor also shared issues
and concerns about PRDP projects to benefit the farmers in MisOcc.
The visit aimed to forge stronger partnerships and collaboration with the
province in implementing various programs and services in MisOcc, specifically
under the Coconut Farmers, Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), and the
distribution of fertilizers and other social services. The director also
proposed a program to engage Coconut Industry Development and Bamboo industry
to elevate farmers' income. (SN/PGMO)
